Ranger doesnt bog anymore, but it went from sounding like flatulence to being too loud to drive.... Im gonna park it at my parents house, take it off insurance, and drive the jeep around for a while to save money because the XJ has a smaller gas tank and gets better gas mileage. Hopefully I can afford a new cat soon, cuz I really missed driving my ranger. Heres a video of what it sounds like now:

Imagine what it sounds like in the video cranked up to 11 because the y pipe lets out just right of the trans and there is a only a 1cm thick sheet of rubber between me and the transmission.

You can get universal high-flow cats for pretty cheap. It’s a happy medium between the restriction of a stock cat and just having a straight pipe.

I’m pretty sure this is what a friend of mine is running, it could be the Flowmaster equivalent though

This is obvious animal cruelty

I was thinking about doing that, but I dont think a universal cat would work because my original cat looks like this:

I got a a look at the first cat, it was pretty corroded but not clogged, I think it was the second cat that failed... I’ll know more once I cut into it. My going hypothesis right now is the first cat failed and all the honey comb went into the second and clogged it

Just replace it with two of the high flow ones then, as far as I know your engine will just run better than it ever did with all that restriction of two big cats. You could talk to an exhaust shop too, but my experience on older vehicles is less restriction = better
